We are Black Journos is a platform celebrating and connecting black journalists. They create visibility through events. It is currently run by Hannah Ajala, who has been doing it for three years and is a current journalist at the BBC.

The Race Beat is a journalism network for people of colour working in and thinking about British media. It is an independent network and is led by and for people of colour. It was founded in 2018.

The Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity is a research centre which aims to bring together the expertise of established media professionals and academics. The Centre believes that accurate representation of all sections of society in all layers of the UK media is vital.
gal-dem calls itself “An online and print publication committed to sharing perspectives from women and non-binary people of colour”. It is actively trying to redress the imbalances present in the current media landscape in terms of colour and gender diversity. It was founded by Liv Little in 2015.

Black Ballad is a UK based lifestyle platform that powerfully tells the human experience through the eyes of black British women. Their content elevates the voices of black British women. It was founded by Tobi Oredein and Bola Awoniyi. It is run through subscriptions which is £1 per week.

Broccoli Content is a London based podcast production company founded in direct response to the lack of opportunities for minority talent both in front of and behind the mic. They aim to break through industry barriers. They have taken action on the Equality in Audio Act which has the aim to move companies closer to equality.

The Black Journalists’ Collective UK is a network of 100+ freelance, contract & staff BAME journalists working in UK newsrooms. They have called on editors to improve diversity among their staff in order to improve their reporting of race issues and subjects according to The Guardian.

BCOMS has an aim of being the first port of call for both black professionals in the sports media and talented newcomers looking to develop their careers. BCOMS is committed to changing the status quo through innovative networking, sharing contact and opportunities and training programmes to name a few. The Collective also feels strongly about all strands of diversity, including gender, disability, sexual orientation and religion. It was founded by Leon Mann.
